Kogalymavia Air Company

  • Kogalymavia, also known as Metrojet, was a Russian airline based in Kogalym, Russia. The airline started operations in 1993 and primarily operated domestic and international charter flights.
  • On October 31, 2015, one of Kogalymavia's flights, Metrojet Flight 9268, crashed in Sinai, Egypt, killing all 224 people on board. The crash was later determined to be caused by a bomb onboard the aircraft. This tragic event led to significant changes in aviation security measures.
  • Following the crash, Kogalymavia's air operator's certificate was suspended, and the airline ceased operations. The company filed for bankruptcy in April 2016.
  • Please note that the above information is accurate as of my last update and changes to the airline's status may have occurred since then.
