Kingfisher Airlines was an Indian airline that operated from 2005 to 2012. It was founded by Indian businessman Vijay Mallya and was headquartered in Bangalore, India. At its peak, Kingfisher Airlines was one of India's largest airlines and operated both domestic and international flights.
The airline had a fleet of Airbus A320 and ATR 72 aircraft. It offered a range of services, including premium and economy class seating options. Kingfisher Airlines aimed to provide a luxurious and high-quality travel experience to its passengers.
However, the airline faced financial difficulties and was unable to sustain its operations. It accumulated significant losses and debts, leading to its grounding in 2012 and subsequent suspension of its flying license by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in India.
Since then, Kingfisher Airlines has remained defunct, and its founder, Vijay Mallya, has faced legal challenges related to unpaid debts and financial irregularities. The airline's assets were seized, and efforts to revive the airline have not been successful.
