Avianova (Russia)

  • Avianova was a low-cost airline based in Russia. It was founded in 2009 as a joint venture between the Italian airline Blue Panorama Airlines and the Russian firm Avia Group. The airline operated domestic and international flights from its hub at Moscow's Sheremetyevo International Airport.
  • Avianova aimed to provide affordable air travel options to passengers in Russia. It operated a fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft and offered a range of services including online check-in, in-flight refreshments, and a frequent flyer program.
  • However, despite initially garnering significant media attention and passenger demand, Avianova faced financial difficulties due to high fuel prices, Russian aviation regulations, and aggressive competition. In 2011, the airline suspended operations and filed for bankruptcy.
  • While Avianova had the potential to be successful as a low-cost carrier in the Russian market, it faced challenges that ultimately led to its demise.
